Subject: Update for the radio stars
Hi all radio friends,
A couple of news items. Our plight for a LPFM station has finally reached Washington as many others joined together to get a window opened for applications. Follow house bill HR 2802 sponsored by McCain, Kyle and Grijalva to see how we do.
It is called "The Local Community Radio Act of 2007". Hector Youtsey of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe and radio manager went to Washington for the hearings. It looks good for small home town stations. My theory is NEVER GIVE UP ON A GOOD IDEA!
Radio Theater Company will present a Coffee House at Road Runner Grill on Wed. Aug. 20th 3:00 to 5:00. Attend or perform we would love to see you. Earlene Lewis and the House Band will lead the way. It is literally back by popular demand.
SIGHTS N SOUNDS is a new organization you will be reading about. A group of interested SaddleBrooke residents, including many radio people, have formed a corporation to manage Channel 2 - both the ads and new TV/Radio Shows.
After a few workshops we should be on the air in October. Do join us if this is of interest to you.
I know it has been a long pull to get this station but it all feels much more positive now.
Want to thank Mark Blumberg for getting our website off to a good start. Saul Chorost is taking over this task for us. www.catalina-radio.org Take a look.
Best wishes for a fine summer.
Anne
Our TV station just received equipment from Western Broadband and we hope to get our Chanel 2 station up by Oct
TV WORKSHOP IN SADDLEBROOKE
Sights N Sounds is presenting the first in a series of workshops to get ready to broadcast on Channel 2.
If you are interested in being in front of or in back of the camera this is the place for you.
Those interested in participating as interviewers, directors or performers will want to meet Ruthann Melzer,
a SaddleBrooke resident and former UA professor. Ruthann produced and hosted her own show on Florida TV before coming to Arizona to teach how to look your best, be your best and perform like a “pro” on TV and radio.
Join us at Mt. View Ballroom on Monday, August 18th 3:00 to 4:30 to get your start or your refresher in TV production.
